My favorite story, my favorite place

This has got to be my favorite movie. Why? Why not!

The story is fun. The Pirates of the Caribbean is classic Disney, who wouldn’t like it?

The characters are fun. Johnny Depp’s persona for Jack Sparrow was genius. After seeing him in the role, no one else could ever play Captain Jack Sparrow.

The special effects help tell the story, they aren’t the story. Some movies have no storyline, they only have a thread of a story that ties all the special effects scenes together. Not this one, the special effects tip the scale, they don’t break it.

It was a much simpler time. I guess back then I’d be writing this in my leather bound journal. Wait a minute, if I was a pirate I doubt I’d be able to read. Ok, I’d have to tell it to you in person … “Arghhh matey!”

I love the Caribbean. I could spend my life down there.

Sometimes what sticks in your mind after the movie is over is not an image, but an outrageous sound byte. This movie is full of them, but my favorite is The Pirate’s code …

And this has got to be my favorite place – the Caribbean.

Did I say I love the caribbean? We’ve been to many of the islands, here’s a photo I took on Anguilla in 2005. This is on a hill overlooking Sandy Grove cove. There is a bar down in the cove called Johnno’s. Go there, have a drink, watch the sun set out in the distance. You’ll never want to come home.

So what about you? Have you seen the movie? Ever wanted to dump it all and move to the Caribbean? Ever think about changing your latitude to change your attitude? Or finding that one particular harbor? I have. Not a day goes by that I don’t.
