theideamechanic podcast

I’m HOOKED on podcasts.

Lately I’ve been noodling on the idea of using a podcast to complement theideamechanic storySite.

I’ve recorded and edited audio for quite a while now. I’ve also written a manual and done training on podcasting and webcasting.

And I like to ask people questions.

You know, it just might be fun to chat with some interesting people. :-)

What I’m thinking

After kicking some ideas around, I’ve started to settle in on …

WHO: Convincing experts (strategists, storytellers, demonstration engineers, experience architects, and customer satisfaction gurus). Also toss in some really good sales and marketing people. Maybe like this guy.

WHAT: Five minute episodes, same format as theideamechanic storySite: informal, informative, and to the point. Each episode is on a single convincing tip, success story, or lesson learned. Each week is a different theme.

WHEN: About 1-2 episodes per week starting out. Five episodes a week after we get settled in. Even if you wait until the weekend to listen, you can still get through them all in about half an hour.

WHERE: Where-ever. Some live interviews, some Skype, some studio work. Hmmm … maybe someplace warm … like here. They sell there too you know.

WHY: Like theideamechanic storySite, my goal is to help you learn better ways to sell your product, service, or point-of-view.

HOW: There’s a bunch of smart people out there. Ask them what has — and hasn’t — worked for them.

HOW MUCH: Well, I was thinking free. Maybe I could do like the Mysterious Universe podcast; have a free version and an affordable PLUS version.

Maybe I’ll call it Convince Me! Tell you what — if you follow theideamechanic, I’ll make sure you get an email when it’s ready.

What’re YOU thinking?

That’s what I was thinking. More importantly …
