Third Coast FilmLess FestivalCome out for the second annual Third Coast Filmless Festival, a celebration of storytelling, sound and listening “in the dark” to unforgettable audio documentaries.

Enjoy screenings followed by producer Q&As, a special presentation of documentary-in-progress with Joe Richman, a lobby humming with audio installation. In the evening, celebrate the book launch of the newly-published Reality Radio: Telling True Stories in Sound, with Ira Glass and the Kitchen Sisters.

Screening Blocks: Each screening explores a theme – from first personal narratives to sound-rich features to audio essays. All screenings include a Q & A. Check out the entire day’s schedule.

Featured TCFF guests include: Dan Collison (Long Haul Productions), Roman Mars (indepedent producer), Joe Richman (Radio Diaries), Lu Olkowski (independent producer), Andrew O’Connor (sound artist), Bridgette Robinson (narrator/reporter of the forthcoming documentary Willie McGee and the Travelling Electric Chair), and Jamie Yuenger (indepedent producer.)

Special evening program: Words On Sound: Celebrating the Launch of Reality Radio
The TCF is thrilled to celebrate the launch of Reality Radio: Telling True Stories in Sound, a brand new / first-of-its-kind collection of essays written by some of the most accomplished radio producers working today.Re:sound‘s Gwen Macsai will join Reality Radio contributors Ira Glass (This American Life), Joe Richman (Radio Diaries) and the Kitchen Sisters (Hidden Kitchens, Lost & Found Sound) for a lively discussion.

Reality Radio: Telling True Stories in Sound (UNC Press, 2010) is edited by John Biewen, co-edited by Alexa Dilworth, and published in association with the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke.

Partners and Supporters: The 2010 Third Coast Filmless Festival is presented in partnership with the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago and the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University, with additional support from The Poetry Foundation, American Airlines and Chicago’s Navy Pier. The educational partner is the Ellen Stone Belic Institute for the Study of Women and Gender in the Arts and Media at Columbia College Chicago.

The Third Coast Filmless Festival is part of the 2010 season of Chicago Public Radio Presents.
