Hi, glad you stopped by!

I’m here to help you learn a simple, easy way to sell your product, service, or point-of-view. Convince Me! (CM!) is a five step, common sense approach that makes selling easy to understand.

Some folks promise if you use their advice, you can sell millions – barely lifting a finger. Sorry, it just ain’t so. Where I come from if you want a good harvest you gotta know what you’re doing and tend to the fields. Follow theideamechanic and practice hard at what you learn; I guarantee you’ll bring in a bushel crop of opportunity!

To get started, here’s the first five things you should know:

About theideamechanic

theideamechanic is all about helping you understand and practice a simple way of selling. You know – everyone sells – even you. I’ll teach you the process and the tools you need to sell, and show you how the experts do it. I’ll also share success stories and lessons learned. My goal is to help you become a do-it-yourself master craftsman.

In real life this is me. I’ve worked hard to develop five skills. If you follow my advice on theideamechanic, I’ll help you learn how to hone these same five skills. Its taken me the better part of a lifetime, but I’ve found what I think is a great approach to selling. I want to share what I’ve learned with you.

Follow me, it’s free!

Before you go too far, sign up for my email list. It’s free. Every time I have something new to say on theideamechanic, you’ll get an email from me. Besides the five useful ideas you’ll get from every post, if you belong to the list you’ll be first to know about special offers from the Idea Mechanics.

I won’t spam you with useless junk. My guarantee is every time I have something to say, I’ll only say it if I think you’ll get more out of it than the time it costs you to read it. And if you ever think I’m wasting your time (which I won’t!), it’s easy to unsubscribe from the list.

Read the “Getting Started” posts

Ever visit a website and wonder “Where do I start?” I have. That’s why I thought it would help you to follow the yellow brick road.

No, you don’t need to click your heels three times to find home – you just have to look over to the side of the page. Scroll to the top. See that picture from The Wizard of Oz? I’ve got a list of posts there that – like the name of their category – are a big help Getting Started. Just click the drop down list and start skimming.

Here’s a hint though: if you pick the Welcome post you’ll be be back here again! So even though it might be kinda fun to spend your whole day in an infinite loop, once you finish this post I’d suggest moving on to the next post :-) .

Learn the five tools you need in your toolbox

Can of soup

The whole idea behind theideamechanic is that a FEW tools can make a HUGE difference when selling your product, service, or point-of-view.

Can you open this can with just your hands? Heck no you can’t. In many ways, selling is like enjoying a bowl of soup: if you want the soup you need the right tools to open the can.

Ask any mechanic; they’ll all tell you that after experience and skill, nothing beats having the right tools for the job. As a seller, you need five tools in your toolbox: a plan, your story, proof, an experience, and a guarantee. These are your power tools.

If you need help, we’re here for you

theideamechanic is all about helping you to do-it-yourself. But sometimes you just plain get stuck. Don’t worry, we all do. If you hit the point where you’ve scratched your head, searched theideamechanic site, and still feel like all hope is lost – then call us or drop us a note. The Idea Mechanics never (really … we never … N-E-V-E-R) run out of ideas and ways to solve a problem.
